Bio:
I grew up in Minneapolis and joined the Navy in 1965. I served aboard a U.S. Naval Hospital Ship Sanctuary off the coast of Vietnam from 1967 - 1968. I was part of the ship’s company (we kept the ship going and afloat). I was honorably discharged in 1968 and started a career in LTL Trucking. I retired as the city sales manager for Old Dominion Freight Lines in 2011.
Goal: $500
Why am I doing this?:
I am participating in the "Holes For Hope Event" to bring awareness not only for the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), of which I am a life member, but also to help meet the critical needs of those less fortunate. I enjoy golf because it promotes cardiovascular activities, which is especially important to me as a diabetic and an 18 year quadruple bypass survivor. Golf has been a part of my life since high school - and of course a necessity in any sales capacity. I am still playing in a senior league on a weekly basis. We call it the "game of life." My wife Mary and I have been married for 30 years, living in Bloomington, MN and have the "traditional" blended family with 6 kids and 13 grandkids. Two of the boys are career-military; one Air Force and one Army.
